Bajre ki Khichdi

Bajre ki Khichdi is a traditional north Rajasthan dish that is not only one of the cheapest and simplest things to make, but also the healthiest you can eat. All you will need is:
1/3 cup whole organic bajra (black millet)
3 tbsp organic yellow moong dal (split yellow gram)
1 tsp organic cumin seeds (jeera)
1/2 tsp organic asafoetida (hing)
1 tbsp organic ghee
organic salt to taste
Method
1. Grind the bajra to a coarse powder in a blender.
2. Combine the bajra and moong dal with salt and 2½ cups of water and pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistles.
3. Heat the ghee in a pan and add the cumin seeds and asafoetida. When the seeds crackle, pour over the cooked bajra khichdi and mix well.
Serve hot.

easy on your taste buds, easy on your stomach.

diebetes capital of the world

While India is now officially the diabetes capital of the world, an easy way to prevent the onset of this disease is to replace refined foods with whole, natural foods. Renounce refined wheat and go back to eating traditional jowar, ragi and bajra rotis again. These millet’s are cheap and should easily be available across all good organic shops in your neighborhood. They taste yummy, especially when washed down with a glass of spiced buttermilk which makes it sit easy on the stomach too!
